First I conducted interviews to understand the users of the system. It was important to know as to what the staff at Fair Housing Justice Center wanted from the system and also what the clients wanted. I took rough but precise notes during the interviews to get a clear picture about the scope of the project.
After sketching out the major interactions, I made personas and scenarios to give me a feel of how the user would interact with the system. I used two personas: one each of the client and the stakeholder and created a scenario of them interacting with each other.
This basically helped me to highlight the various points at which the users of the system were not happy. It also helped me underline where the system that I design would help alleviate the users problems.
Based on the information I got out of the customer walkthrough diagram and the interviews, I created possible solutions and roadmaps as to how the client should secure the data from FHJC.
Finally I created paper prototypes and asked potential users of the system to test it. I made some minor adjustments based on these tests.
